Matthew Dunlap

Engineer, Composer, & Music Technologist

Creative Engineering

Matthew is pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Technology from New York University (NYU) and will graduate in December of 2019. During his tenure at NYU, he has worked on composition projects that utilized hardware and software created for their performance.

Matthew is currently working on his Master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Robert Rowe. It is entitled “An Eye Tracking Interface for Musical Expression for People with Disabilities.” This project consists of an eye tracking interface for making music that will allow an individual to perform music via improvisation and algorithms. Other than using their eyes, the user should make music with little or no physical interaction from the rest of their body. Eventually, the project will allow a person with severe disabilities to be musically expressive with nearly complete autonomy.
